Red Light Therapy FAQ

Everything you need to know about photobiomodulation at Optimum Health

What is red light therapy and how does it work? +

Red light therapy, also called photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light (633nm-940nm) to penetrate your skin and stimulate cellular function. These wavelengths are absorbed by mitochondria in your cells, boosting ATP production and triggering beneficial biological processes including reduced inflammation, increased collagen production, and accelerated tissue repair.

How long are the sessions and how often should I come? +

Each NEO Light Bed session lasts just 8-10 minutes. For optimal results, we recommend 3-5 sessions per week initially. Many clients notice improvements after 4-6 weeks of consistent use. Your personalized treatment plan will be discussed during your consultation.

Is red light therapy safe? Are there any side effects? +

Yes, red light therapy is completely safe and non-invasive. Unlike UV light, red and near-infrared wavelengths do not damage skin. The therapy is FDA-cleared and has been extensively researched. Most people experience no side effects. You may feel mild warmth during treatment, which is normal and comfortable.

What should I wear during my session? +

You can wear as much or as little as you're comfortable with. For maximum benefit, exposing more skin to the light is ideal. Many clients choose to wear undergarments or athletic wear. We provide complete privacy during your session. Makeup and jewelry are fine to wear.

Which mode should I choose for my goals? +

RESTORE mode is ideal for pain relief, anti-aging, and general wellness. PULSE mode is perfect for athletes and deep muscle recovery. CALM mode helps with skin tone, dark spots, and relaxation. CLEANSE mode targets acne and oily skin. Our staff will help you select the best mode for your specific wellness goals.

When will I start seeing results? +

Results vary by individual and goals. Some clients report increased energy and better sleep within the first week. Skin improvements typically become visible after 4-6 weeks. Pain relief and recovery benefits may be noticed within 2-3 weeks of consistent sessions. Long-term benefits accumulate with regular use.
